While in my cottage, a few weeks ago, I started experimenting with log printing. The surfaces of each log that I brought inside to put in the fire were so intriguing and unique and I wanted to capture that. So this is what I made:
I found a log with a characteristic hole at the end that I used as “stamp”. It gave the pattern a lovely ying/yang feeling to it..
Note: When you use your log as a stamp, you need your printing surface to be soft. That way the details of your log will be more visible. I used a soft towel under the fabric I printed on.
When I stamped/printed I just brushed the paint on to the log end.
When ready, I first iron the print to fixate it, then I cut out egg shaped forms.
And zig zag aroud the edges.
